Kilauea Lighthouse

The 52-foot Kilauea Lighthouse located on the northernmost tip of Kauai was constructed in 1913 as a beacon for travelling ships. The Kilauea Lighthouse regarded as one of the most important landmarks in Kauai is the perfect vantage point for taking photographs of the rugged northern coastline and the deep blue Pacific Ocean. In the vicinity of Kilauea Lighthouse, the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge is located which is a sanctuary for seabirds and refuge for the area's bird species, including frigates, shearwaters, boobies and Laysan albatrosses.

The Opaekaa falls are named after "rolling shrimp" which were once abundant in the stream.
